Four reasons for controversial ‘Allah’ ruling .
Sunday 17 January 2010
By Debra Chong

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 — High Court judge Datuk Lau Bee Lan’s controversial ‘Allah’ ruling that rocked the nation over who had rights to the term cited that the Home Minister and government’s actions had been illegal, unconstitutional, irrational and had failed to satisfy that it was a threat to national security.

She also wrote about the apparent conflict in the matter between the Federal Constitution and the various state enactments apart from claims by Muslim groups that the matter cannot be taken to a civil court.

The judge released the written grounds of her Dec 31 judgment late on Friday while the increasingly acrimonious public debate over who has the right to use the word “Allah” continues to rage on....

  • On why the Home Minister’s ban is illegal
  • On why the Home Minister’s ban is unconstitutional
  • On why the Home Minister’s ban is irrational
  • On the seeming conflict between the Federal Constitution and the state enactments to control and restrict the propagation of religious doctrine among Muslims
  • On the claim that the Home Minister’s ban was to safeguard public security and order
  • On claims from the Muslim groups that "Allah" cannot be challenged in court
  • On what the Court really ordered

The Borneo Post Online:
Nazri says govt recognises two states’ traditional usage of word

Lunch @ Boston

One of the restaurants my colleagues and I usually eat at for lunch (not everyday) is at Boston.

They now offer set lunch at RM7.90++ for any one of the 8 dished advertised + drink (milk tea, coffee or ying yong) and a scoop of ice cream. Add RM2 to replace the drink with ice honey lemon, ice lemon tea, honeydew juice, apple juice or carrot juice. Price is cheaper compared to if you ordered the ala carte.

I have already tried 3 of the corn rice dishes; sweet & sour chicken, dry-fried beef tenderloin (spicy) and grilled chicken fillet. It really fills your stomach. The only complain I have is that the dish is a bit dry, not enough gravy.

The service at the 3 Two Square outlet needs to be improved too. There are times they gave us the wrong order, other times the dish comes late, very late. They need to be reminded all the time.
