Company Training @ Awana Genting

My company held a customer service training at Awana, Genting in August. It was a 2 day training.

Training session in progress.

It has been a while since I last stayed at Awana, Genting. There is now air-con in the room, there wasn't one the last time I was there. It is getting warmer up in the highlands due to global warming.

Strictly No Contract IT Consultants

We contract IT consultants in our workplace, and we sometimes call them "contractors".

In my office block, there is this notice outside the lifts. "STRICTLY NO CONTRACTORS... ALLOW INTO THIS LIFT", other than the bad grammar, our contract IT consultants are not allowed to use the lift.

Please use the stairs ^__^

21-22.11.2009 Company Trip To Penang

My company made a trip to Penang for an off-site meeting and team building telematch on 21th - 22nd Dec (opps not Dec, it is Nov) 2009 (Sat-Sun).

We stayed at the Copthorne Orchid Hotel at Tanjung Bungah.

Day 1.
Left PJ around 8AM and we reached the hotel in Penang after 1:30PM. After the buffet lunch at the hotel's cafe we rested for a while and went straight for our off-site meeting.

After our the meeting, we headed off for dinner at Makanan Laut Oriental Seafood at Gurney Drive. And thereafter we walked at Batu Feringi's night market.

Day 2.
After the buffet breakfast, we headed for the beach for some telematch.

Checked out of the hotel and headed for East Hokkaido Seafood Restaurant. The lunch was much better than the previous nights dinner.

After lunch we headed for Syarikat Wah Thai Native Products Co to buy some local biscuits and products, than another long journey back to PJ.

Reached PJ before 7PM and drove home... home sweet home.

My Colleague's Email

I received this email from my colleague, concerning a broken sewage pipe at my office basement parking.

Dear Colleagues,

Please be informed that the toilet sewage pipe at B1 broke yesterday afternoon.

Of course, you can just imagine what happened next…

So, IF you did *poo poo yesterday, please be aware that your *poo poo is somewhere lying around at B1.

Also note, it’s also possible that your *poo poo is on top of other people's cars driving around the city.

All the best (to your *poo poo).

Regards,

Concerned Witness

1 July 2009: Drinks Before Commute Home

First of all, happy 1st of July :-D

Had drinks with Rach and Andrew (+ roti telur bawang) at Kanna, before heading home after work yesterday evening. We left PJ slightly after 7pm.

Seems that traffic is badly jammed on Federal Highway even if we leave PJ at 6pm or 7pm. Not much difference.

I still miss my 5pm cut off from work time. :-(

29 June 2009: Change In Shift 1 Working Time

As of last Monday 22 June 2009, my 1st shift working time has been changed to 9am to 6pm from 8am to 5pm. I only started the new working time this week.

This means I will have an hour before work to kill and going back in a worse jam than if I had left the office at 5pm.

I have been working on the 8am to 5pm shift since April 2007 when I joined this company. We were located in Cyberjaya before moving to PJ early last year.

Yesterday... 1/2 Day MC

I was on 1/2 day medical yesterday morning. Why? See the picture...

A small infection in my right eye lid. Felt like a small stone was in my eye. Such an irritation, causing me to have red eyes.

The doctor gave me an eye drop, some antibiotics and 1/2 day off.

Much better yesterday afternoon after the 'puss' popped.

Flea Market, Flees Away

Another update regarding my previous blog 3 Two Square Flea Market.

No Flea Market. Seems like the Flea Market concept did not take off here at 3 Two Square.

Lift Human Traffic Jams

Celcom moved into 3 Two Square, The Crest building last week. They occupy 5 floors and have around 400 people.

Since they moved in, we have faced with parking problems, where there are not enough parking bays (without walking too far) and human traffic jams in the 3 lifts that service our office block.

We could wait between 5- 15 minutes before we can enter the lifts. This happens 3 times a day, in the morning, during lunch and after work.

It is not Celcoms fault, but I blame it on the building planners. They could have foreseen that the 3 lifts could not handle the occupants in the tower block.

The building management is trying their best to resolve this problem.

This morning, I pressed the 'up' button, and the button light was on, and after a few seconds, the button light turned off. This happen everytime I pressed the 'up' button.

When the lift arrived, there was a security guard in the lift. He said there will be someone stationed in the all the tower lifts during morning peak hours. They will manually control and monitor the lifts Ups and Downs to minimize the human traffic jam problems.

So now their job titles will be "Security guards aka Lift attendants".

Give Thanks: My Winter Clothing Claim

My company is sending me and some of my colleagues to Europe, namely Greece and
Hungary for the project handover. The project team will handover support to us.

Our company has allowed up to claim winter allowance, but were instructed to purchase with "reasonable expenditures". So what is reasonable? No maximum was given.

Having no experience with winter and winter clothing, since I am living in a tropical country and have not traveled to a place where there are four seasons. I just bought "reasonable" priced jacket, sweater, a pair of thermal wear and wool socks. Hopefully it is sufficient to keep me warm during winter.

The total cost RMx,xxx. I was not sure that it was reasonable.

Today I just want to thank God that the my winter clothing claim has been approved. So one less thing to think about.

New Colleague

My new Sales and Distribution consultant colleague Alex, joined us on 24 Nov 2008. At least for now I am relieved of some work load, shared with him. This is until we take over support of Greece and Hungary in February 2009.

Alex will take the 2nd shift (tentative 3pm to 12 midnight) to support Europe and I will remain 8-5pm to continue support of Asia-Pacific. Of course we will share the work load when required.

So I still see, 1 consultant handling 1 area of work and it is either for Asia or Europe. So how can we take leave without burdening the other consultant?

I am also waiting for confirmation from management when my current colleague Ellie, who is handling master data will be transferred over to my team.
