The Star Online: Shocking Truth Behind Govt Run Shelter

I felt disgusted with the authorities when I read this news on Sunday A govt-run shelter for the disabled has, instead, become their jail. Some residents were caged up, chained and covered in their faeces and urine.

A govt-run shelter for the disabled has, instead, become their jail

KUALA KUBU BARU: About 30 men, naked, some chained up, caged and covered in their faeces and urine – that is the scene inside locked rooms at the Taman Sinar Harapan home here.

Following a public tip-off via an email from London, The Star’s probe team went undercover to the government-run shelter that is tucked away behind the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital and next to a golf course.

The home has about 200 residents comprising men, women and children, some of whom are mentally disabled and infirmed.

What goes on within the four walls is shocking, and visits to individual rooms reveal even more horror – residents, young and old, naked and confined in cages.

5 July 2009: Movie - Dance Subaru

Marilyn and Ashley watched the movie Dance Subaru at Berjaya Times Square after church. They went with dance/ballet teacher Ms Loo.

Good movie to watch if you are interested in dance and ballet, and some drama added in.

Synopsis:
Subaru and her twin brother Kazuma share a dream in becoming ballet dancers, but after Kazuma’s death from a hereditary illness, dancing became Subaru’s only happiness and she yearns to lose herself in dance. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she runs into cabaret owner Isuzu, who recognizes the talent in Subaru and trains her in her nightspot. But to become a professional ballerina, Subaru has to overcome harsher challenges than merely satisfying the cabaret drunkards. Spurred on by her rivals, Subaru enters an international dance competition, to vie for recognition and a scholarship to any top ballet company in the world.

Washed By The Water - NeedToBreath

Lyrics: Washed By The Water

Website: NEEDTOBREATHE

Lyrics: http://www.lyricsmania.com/lyrics/needtobreathe_lyrics_10483/the_heat_lyrics_73421/washed_by_the_water_lyrics_723603.html

Daddy was a preacher
She was his wife
Just tryin to make the world a little better
You know, shine a light
People started talking
Just to hear their own voice
Those people tried to accuse my father
Said he made the wrong choice
Though it might be painful
You know that time will always tell
Those people have long since gone
My father never failed

Chorus
Even when the rain falls
Even when the flood starts rising
Even when the storm comes
I am washed by the water

(Repeat Chorus)

Even when the Earth crumbles under my feet
Even when the ones I love turn around and crucify me
I won’t never ever let you down
I won’t fall
I won’t fall
I won’t fall as long as you’re around me

Chorus
Even when the rain falls
Even when the flood starts rising
Even when the storm comes
I am washed by the water

(Repeat Chorus Twice)

1 July 2009: Drinks Before Commute Home

First of all, happy 1st of July :-D

Had drinks with Rach and Andrew (+ roti telur bawang) at Kanna, before heading home after work yesterday evening. We left PJ slightly after 7pm.

Seems that traffic is badly jammed on Federal Highway even if we leave PJ at 6pm or 7pm. Not much difference.

I still miss my 5pm cut off from work time. :-(

Lok Lok Pre Dinner

While waiting for Silas to fetch Rachel home at our transit point, Rach and I started out pre lok lok dinner meal at the road side Fat One BBQ Steamboat van (just next to Esso petrol station after Mines). Silas came later to join us for a quick bite.

I haven't eaten lok lok for years. The closest cousin to the lok lok that I ate last is the Melaka Satay Celup "Satay Celup Has Arrived In Kajang". Btw, the Satay Celup Restaurant Old Home Town in Kajang has closed shop.

It was after 7:30pm, way pass my usual dinner time at 6:00 - 6:30pm, cause of my new working time.

Cook your meals on stick in hot boiling water and than put some satay, sweet or chili sauce over it.

Crab anyone, small little ones. Deep fry it and you will have an even more crunchier crab on sticks. I did not try it. It looks like the little crabs you see on the beach.

Thank for the meal Silas and Rach.

KFC BakChang

Want to try KFC's Bak Chang (Chinese dumpling), than head to Bachang in Melaka.
