PETALING JAYA: The fallout from the global financial crisis has created some unusual effects in Malaysia.
Money changers in the country are facing a shortage of the Australian dollar as the currency continues to go “down under.”
“People don’t want to change the Australian dollar back to ringgit when it is so low,” one money changer told StarBiz.
“When the Australian dollar fell, many people wanted to buy and no one wanted to sell,” another trader said.
Money changers in the country generally do not get their cash from banks but through other money changers....
