My pocket knife was confiscated in Bangkok... here is my short story. :-P
I was in Bangkok last week on a short business trip for a project workshop discussion. At Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok on my return trip to KL, during security check and baggage x-ray scan, the security officer spotted a pocket knife in my laptop bag.
I forgot (REALLY!) that I left if in the bag. It was in my laptop bag when I departed from KL. So that is how my pocket knife was confiscated.
Thats it......?
Well this is not about losing the pocket knife, but to highlight the security check or lack of it between Suvarnabhumi airport and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
At KLIA, for my flight to Bangkok, I had to go through 2 security checks and baggage x-ray scans. The 1st is after the immigration counters and the the 2nd at the departure gate. At both security checks, the pocket knife was not detected.
In Suvarnabhumi, there is only 1 security check after the immigration counters. Furthermore, we were required to remove our laptop from the bag and belt for the scan, but at KLIA this was not required.
How could KLIA security miss detecting my pocket knife? I shudder to think what would have happened if some hijacker manage to sneak in some weapon onto the plane.
