News: Sinkhole on Jalan University, PJ

I sometimes use Jalan Universiti to get to the Federal Highway after work. Good thing I decided against using that route yesterday. The sinkhole was near the Jalan Universiti's KFC.

Danger:Federal Highway/Jalan Kerinchi

There is another danger spot at the turn off from Federal Highway to Jalan Kerinchi. A stretch of steel barrier has collapsed due to an accident or due to wear and tear. It has been the case for the last few months.

I can't remember if this was the result of a bus accident The Star: Bus falls off flyover, more than 20 passengers hurt in July 2009.

What is DBKL going to do about this?

Danger: Over Federal Highway

There is a gaping hole in the steel fence barrier over the Federal Highway at the EPF-UH flyover in between Jalan University and Jalan Gasing.

I noticed a similar hole in the steel barrier at the Amcorp Mall interchange over the Federal Highway, between Jalan Utara and Jalan Timur. It has since been repaired after many months of being a danger to pedestrians and motorists.

Someone could fall through the hole unto the highway below. Who is responsible to do the repairs, MBPJ? Will the authorities only repair it after some tragedy has happened?

Underpasses to help ease congestion in Jalan Cheras
Friday April 16, 2010

The Jalan Cheras/Taman Len Seng project was constructed in a move to alleviate traffic congestion when coming out of Kajang to Kuala Lumpur/Petaling Jaya while easing traffic movement from the surrounding residential estates to enter or exit Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

Built at a cost of RM77mil, the project involved construction of a flyover crossing Jalan Cheras for traffic flow from KL and PJ to Taman Len Seng and Taman Orkid Desa, two tunnels (two-lane) for traffic heading from Kajang to Petaling Jaya, the upgrading of Jalan 1/144A junction, and the upgrading of Jalan Cheras and roads leading into Taman Len Seng and Kg Sungai Midah.
