Family Penang Holiday: Day 5

26 Nov 2008. Our final day in Penang.

After breakfast again the kids headed for the pool. My one and only picture of me in Penang. I was the official photographer marrr.

Farewell lunch before we headed home. Lunch at Corner Club Restaurant, on Persiaran Gurney.



The food... overall value for money. Another recommended place to eat.

Final thoughts on our trip to Penang. Glad that we met up with friends to get re-connected.

Siew Fong and family, who had been great hosts while we were in Penang. She recommended many great places to eat and see. And went the extra mile to get us additional Ghee Hiang biscuits, which was always out of stock.

Linda, Marilyn's ex-college mate and Zoe, thanks for the Korean food and snacks and especially the company.

Nancy good to see you and thanks for the invite to the Chldren's day celebration.

The kids had a good time at the pool and beach and to be able to met their old friends Siew fong's kids.

The food, well I overate, simple delicious Penang food... if you know where to go.

Family Penang Holiday: Day 4

25 Nov 2008. Day 3 in Penang.

Siew Fong and family came over to the hotel to take a dip in the swimming pool...

Lunch at Kedai Makanan Dan Minuman Taman Emas, opposite Penang Chinese Girls High School along the junction of Jalan Gottlieb and Jalan Burma.


The food... for a person who does not like asam laksa, I finished all the laksa, burb... must be very good ;;) .

I had a variety of dishes for lunch chee chong fun, char koay teow, and other than the asam laksa, I also finished the curry laksa.

A recommended good place to eat.

Dinner with Linda and her daughter Zoe at Northram Foodcourt, on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah oppsite The Northam All Suite Penang.

Family Penang Holiday: Day 3

24 Nov 2008. Day 3 in Penang.

After breakfast, the kids had fun at the beach and the swimming pool.



We met Linda, Marilyn's ex-college mate for lunch at Restaurant BBQ Korea Palace, located at Jalan Tanjung Tokong on the 1st floor of Wisma Bayu.

If you like Korean food, this is the place we would recommend in Penang.

Dinner at Ubi Food Court, Jalan Tanjong Tokong, Penang, near Island Plaza (MetroJaya). the food here is average compare to the other places we ate so far.

End of day 3.

Family Penang Holiday: Day 2

23 Nov 2008. Day 2 of our family holiday in Penang.

We went to the Penang Adventist Hospital for the Children's Day Celebration.

Nancy, who invited us to the event. Nancy is Marilyn's former boss in MBf. thanks for the invite Nancy.


After the Children's Day celebration, we went to the Colonial Restaurant on Armenian Street for delicious Hainanese Loh Mee.


We did some sightseeing, Fort Cornwallis, located on Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah, next to Padang Esplanade. Too bad it was closed on Sunday.

Tea time at Lam Heng Cafe, on Jalan Macalister. We had the famous Sister's Char Koay Teow. Indeed the Char Koay Teow was superlious delicious. We also ordered a yam cake, chicken feet with mushroom and otak-otak.


Stopped at Ghee Hiang on Jalan Macalister to buy some biscuits.


We checked into the Copthorne Orchid Hotel along Jalan Tanjong Bungah. Pictures taken from room, para-sailing.

Our dinner at Gurney Drive. We parked at Gurney Plaza and walked over to the Gurney Drive hawker center. We had asam laksa, ocen and wan ton mee.


After dinner, we back to the hotel. End of day 2 in Penang.

Family Penang Holiday: Day 1

22 Nov 2008. Our family holiday in Penang, for me is to spend more time with the family, hope I did, and also to visit some old friends in Penang, namely Siew Fong and family, Nancy (Marilyn's former boss at MBf) and Linda (Marilyn's old school mate)

Day 1 began when we left home around 5:30AM for Penang.

Arrived in Penang around 11AM, cause we stopped twice along the North-South Expressway rest area, once at Bidor rest area to change the kids and the second to have breakfast at the Tapah rest area.

Lots of cars on the Penang bridge, but no jam. Construction to expand the bridge to 2 to 3 lanes is in progress.


We drove straight to Siew Fong's place where we spent the night. Siew Fong used to stay in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, and attended our cell group.

We had home cooked meal for lunch and we parents rested while our children played with Siew Fong's children, Xi Tak and ning Ning. A year or 2 before baby Ming Ming can join and play with the older kids.

For dinner, Siew Fong brought us and her parent in-laws to a Thai restaurant, Prontip Thai Restaurant located on Lebuhraya Peel. The food was deliciously delicious.
