Short Blog: Lunch With Brother Jo
Had lunch with Jo at the mamak in 3 Two Square. Thanks for lunch Jo.
My Favourite Johor Bharu Food
Kueh Teow Teng
My brother Michael brought Marilyn and I to Hen Hwa Restaurant in Taman Sentosa for one of my favourite dishes.
I love to eat 'spare parts', kueh teow kia
JB Mee Rebus
The original mee rebus shop at Jalan Ibrahim Sultan in Stulang Darat, we heard from the parking attendant has closed shop. That was the reason why the mee rebus was not like what we tasted before, and they did not serve mee rebus special or of different sizes nor do they serve JB's otak otak.
At least we tasted JB mee rebus, though not the best.
JB Kolok Mee
One of the best JB kolok mee is at Ho Seng Kee Restaurant, on Jalan Kancil, off Jalan Harimau. It is located behind Plaza Century and opposite the Caltex petrol station.
Why is it one of the best, cause if you go late, the will have run out of stock. Thats what happened to us on Saturday afternoon at 12:30pm.
A day earlier we went to look for this restaurant previously located on Jalan Harimau. There are a few kolok mee shops on this road. We went to the shop Ho Meng Kee (previously where Ho Seng Kee was located.
Chili kolok mee.
Later on we heard from my aunt that the original shop Ho Seng Kee has moved to the opposite side. I was 'conned'. But the kolok mee here was not bad either. Thats what my uncle Johnny told me from the tapaued kolok mee we packed for our aunts and uncles.
Next round I am going for the Johor Laksa.

29 June 2009: Change In Shift 1 Working Time
As of last Monday 22 June 2009, my 1st shift working time has been changed to 9am to 6pm from 8am to 5pm. I only started the new working time this week.
This means I will have an hour before work to kill and going back in a worse jam than if I had left the office at 5pm.
I have been working on the 8am to 5pm shift since April 2007 when I joined this company. We were located in Cyberjaya before moving to PJ early last year.

Bagus La Mian Yong Tau Fu @ 3Two Square
I ate at Bagus La Mian Yong Tau Fu at 3 Two Square last week.
Choose 4 types of yong tau foo and any style of noodle for RM6.90. I had the kueh teow soup.
The meal was plain and simple, I rather eat at Ampang Yong Tau Foo. Bagus can't complete with them.

20 - 21 June 2009: Melaka
On the way back from JB after visiting my grandma, Marilyn and I stopped over for a night in Melaka and put up a night in brother Matthew's home.
Before going to there house, we had dinner at Makko Nyonya Restaurant in Melaka Raya. Had chicken ponteh (aunty Yeo's ponteh is much much more delicious), assam fish (the assam fish at Bukit Tinggi Village is so much better) :-P and kangkung belacan (nice).
After dinner we walked in Dataran Pahlawan while waiting for Matthew and family to reach home.
Next day before church at Melaka church we went to have a dim sum breakfast.
In church, we celebrated Father's day, James and Bee Geok's children's birthday and a farewell prayer for Michael who is going to Sarawak to further his studies.
Father's day poem by the youths.
Performance by the Twin ballerinas.
We watch Terminator Salvation at Melaka Mall (opposite Jusco) with Matt, Peggy and Paul. Cool movie.
Thanks Matt for you and your family's hospitality and love to us.
Loving brother and sister.

18 - 20 June 2009 Johor Bharu
I took two days off last week from work, and together with Marilyn we visited my grandmother in Johor Bharu.
She was admitted in the hospital the previous week and when I arrived at my grandma's house on Thursday night, she was already discharged from the hospital and was in her room at home.
Visited her for 3 days, Thursday to Saturday.
She needs help to get in and out of bed, to get cleaned, bath and changed.
Pray that she will get stronger and for my uncles and aunties to continue to have the strength, patience and love while caring for her.

Birth Day: From Conception to Birth
Received this from a friend, enjoy reading....
The 'Middle Wife' by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher
I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back.
When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame.. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome.
Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater.
She holds up a snapshot of an infant. 'This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday.'
'First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord.'
She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement.
'Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!' Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. 'She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!' (Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.)
'My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this.' (Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.)
'And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!' (This kid has her legs spread with her little hands miming water flowing away. It was too much!)
'Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe. They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center, (placenta) so there must be a lot of toys inside there. When he got out, the middle wife spanked him for crawling up in there.'
Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat. I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, when it's show-and-tell day, I bring my camcorder, just in case another 'Middle Wife' comes along.

Give Me Your Eyes - Brandon Heath
Lyrics : Give Me Your Eyes
Album: What If We

Lyrics: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/brandon_heath/give_me_your_eyes.html
Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere,
Why have I never cared?
Chorus
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach.
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work
He's buying time
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?
(Chorus)
I've Been there a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just moving past me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way you see the people all along
(Chorus x2)

"This song was inspired from the idea that every once in a while, God gives us His eyes.
You tend to see a lot of different kinds of people in places like airports.
Sometimes, usually only for a few moments, I feel like God gives me true compassion for those people aruond me.
I think that the longer I get to know the character of Jesus, the more compassion I personally have for others.
It is one thing to have compassion and quite another to act on it.
Most times, it starts with the people around you." - Brandon Heath

Tribute to Mothers
1. The Seen Roles
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 31:10-31 (KJV)
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
