My Journey Home: Traffic Congestion and Bottles

Since the fasting month started, leaving the office at 5pm sharp is not such a good idea. Traffic is much worst than usual when I leave the office at this time.

So during this Ramadan period, leaving later is a better option.....

Jalan University
Jalan University has its normal bad crawl in front of UMMC (UH) and made worst by the indiscriminately parked vehicles in front of the hospital. A bottleneck and the authorities have still not solve the problem.

The flow of traffic joining the traffic into Federal Highway is terrible. Drivers have to inch their way onto the highway.

Federal Highway
The cause of the crawl from PJ to KL on the highway is the exit to East West Link highway at Mid Valley. Three to four lanes of vehicles trying desperately and queue jumping to exit the highway towards Cheras.

A major bottleneck here. Vehicles have to squeeze their way through to two lanes, and vehicles cutting queues, and cutting left towards NPE, motocyclist zig zagging in between vehicles and another lane of cars exiting Mid Valley entering the same two lane road.

A recipe for a major jam that effect motorist on the Federal Highway for miles and miles.

East-West Link (Taman Connaught)
Long queues at the turn off to Bandar Tun Razak spills onto the highway, and would block the left lane of the highway, causing a bottleneck for those heading towards Taman Connaught.

Taman Connaught as usual is filled with slow traffic making a u-turn to the other part of Taman Connaught or heading towards Kajang, another bottleneck.

Construction of a flyover next to Phoenix Plaza (now a white elephant) is another cause of the jam here. Another bottleneck.

Taman Connaught U-Turn to Close?
When I passed the U-turn, I saw a sign 9.09.2008, U-turn Close. Will they close the u-turn and open the new flyover on 9.9.2008?

It seems to just get worse...
I don't miss driving to work or anywhere for that matter. If I need to go anywhere, I'll leave really early to avoid traffic jams. Like when I went down to Long Beach Island a couple of weeks ago, i left at 6am....!!! Reminds me of our family getaways too...mum likes to leave at 5 or 6 am too.

I would still pack the family off early in the mornings if we have to drive outstation during the holidays.

And yes I still leave home around 6-6:15 in the morning to work, to avoid congestions.
