Navy overspent RM114 mil on jetty HQ

The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) overspent by RM114.22 million when building its jetty headquarters in Sabah, according to the Auditor-General's Report 2007.

...the project as a poorly planned and managed one, that was completed only 44-months after the original target date of Apr 15, 2004....

CIQ complex in JB
The AG report also revealed the construction of the RM1.27 billion Custom, Immigration and Quarantine building at Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru did not undergo an open tender process.

...the contractor was directly appointed by the federal Works Department.


Police could have earned RM12 mil per year

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) could have collected RM12.34 million per year if it had leased out the 315 lots of undeveloped land held by it, according to the newly-released Auditor-General's report for 2007.

According to the AG, the PDRM owned 2,453 lots of land, totalling 8,430 hectares in size nationwide, but 437 lots equivalent to 1,453 hectares in size were left abandoned....
