With opposition parties feeling shut out of traditional news media, they turned to the Internet to air their views. And it seems many Malaysians follow them there.
Said Mr Premesh: 'The alternative media has broken the monopoly of the government on the media and provided a platform for information distribution. It gave a platform for people not in power.'
And some now say, cyberspace was where the recent election was lost.

Compared to the 11th General Election in 2004, more information is readily available via the internet.
We now have reports, on both sides, the Barisan National government and the opposition. The local dailies, TV and radio news are so bias towards the BN government. With sites like Malaysia Today and MalaysiaKini, and local bloggers our eyes are more opened to the happenings in our country.
